The making of A Shopify Store and Knowledge Base for a Japanese Matcha Brand

A Shopify Store and Knowledge Base for a Japanese Matcha Brand — the delivered interface

Challenges

  • Matcha grades and processing methods can confuse first-time buyers, requiring clear educational content embedded directly into the shopping flow.
  • The storefront needed to support casual retail customers, subscription buyers, and B2B wholesale orders without complicating the main consumer navigation.

Solution

Midori Spring sources shade-grown, stone-ground Japanese matcha, hojicha, and traditional tea accessories, catering to daily drinkers, home brewers, and wholesale partners. To accommodate varied customer needs across global markets, their storefront required structured tier navigation, subscription savings, wholesale access, and educational resources on tea grades and testing standards. We built their e-commerce experience on Shopify using a customized Stiletto theme, implementing dynamic multi-currency routing, automated bundle options, and Subscribe & Save discounts up to 30%. The site features structured product comparison guides detailing ceremonial versus culinary grades and organic credentials, explicit per-gram unit pricing, integrated Judge.me customer reviews, third-party purity testing callouts, and dedicated entry points for B2B wholesale buyers and brand ambassadors.

Design

The site uses Abril Fatface for featured titles paired with Manrope for body copy and UI element labels. Modern muted forest greens (#6B916D, #1F4332, #204431) establish a brand connection to green tea, complemented by warm yellow highlights (#FFF8D3, #FFF4BA) and coral accents (#FB8077). UI components combine sharp square corners with fully rounded circular shapes for badges and interactive elements.
