The making of Direct-to-Consumer Retail for a Wearable Breast Pump
Promom sells wearable breast pumps and sterilizers across India. We built their D2C Shopify store — four product lines, generation-aware spares, COD. See how.

Challenges
- Two hardware generations sharing part names — a valve or flange insert ordered for the wrong pump becomes a return and a support ticket, so the spares catalogue had to make fitment unmistakable
- A high-consideration purchase in a regulated category — FDA approval, BPA-free materials, warranty and return terms all had to be legible at the point of decision rather than buried in policy pages
- Indian payment and delivery expectations — cash on delivery on select items running alongside free prepaid shipping, with dispatch and delivery windows stated up front
Solution
Promom is a Lucknow-based direct-to-consumer brand selling wearable breast pumps, bottle sterilizers and bottle warmers to mothers across India. We built their storefront on Shopify as a custom theme forked from Dawn rather than an off-the-shelf install, so the product pages could carry what a medical-adjacent purchase actually needs: full technical specifications, an FAQ at the point of decision, variant packs with their own contents lists, and a spares catalogue that keeps two hardware generations apart. Payment, shipping and warranty terms are stated on the product page rather than left to policy pages, and post-purchase support runs through order tracking, video guides and WhatsApp.

Design
The store had to read as calm rather than clinical. Promom sells a medical-adjacent device to mothers who are often shopping one-handed and late at night, so the palette leans on deep plum and soft peach instead of hospital white, with rounded cards and circular photo masks carrying the warmth. Bricolage Grotesque takes the headlines; Poppins keeps the long specification lists and FAQ answers legible on a phone. The four product lines sit as tinted cards directly beneath the hero, so a returning customer hunting a replacement part never has to open the menu — and on the product page the specifications, pack contents, warranty and cash-on-delivery terms all sit where the decision actually gets made.

Geometric and even-weighted, which keeps long specification lists and FAQ answers legible on a phone.
What we built
Four-Line Product Catalogue
Breast Pump, Bottle Sterilizer, Bottle Warmer and Spares & Accessories, each with its own collection and navigation path from a single Shop menu.
Variant Packs With Contents Lists
The Neo Pro ships as Single, Double, Single+TravelCase or Single+CarePack — every option showing exactly what is in the box, down to valves and flange inserts.
Generation-Aware Spares Catalogue
Thirteen replacement SKUs split across Neo Pro and Gen-1 hardware. Part names repeat between generations, so each listing is scoped to the pump it actually fits.
Specs and FAQs on the Product Page
A technical specification tab — 1000mAh battery, 60kPa suction, under 40dB — alongside an eleven-question accordion covering sterilisation, battery life and safety.
Judge.me Reviews Throughout
Star ratings and written reviews on collection cards and product pages, so the social proof sits where the buying decision is made.
COD, Warranty and Self-Serve Support
Cash on delivery for select items beside free prepaid shipping, a one-year warranty and seven-day returns, plus order tracking, how-to video guides and WhatsApp support.
